WEST BRUNSWICK TWP., Pa. – On Tuesday, Feb. 19, Geisinger Health System held a topping off ceremony at the site of the future Geisinger–Orwigsburg clinic. The ceremony included Geisinger employees and event attendees signing the last steel beam before it is hoisted into place, signifying completion of the structural phase of construction.

The forthcoming facility is located at the site of the former Deer Lake Drive-In Theater and will replace the current clinic at 200 Pinebrook Place in Orwigsburg. The family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics practice and laboratory services will continue in the new clinic.

“Radiology services and a CareSite Pharmacy will be added to give our patients a convenient, one-stop experience when they come in for a doctor’s visit,” said Carolyn Houk, M.D., department medical director, community practice, Schuylkill County. “With the increased space and new services, we can open our doors wider to welcome new patients of all ages.”

Other speakers at the topping off ceremony included Kirk Fanelli, project manager for L&K Construction, vice president of Fanelli Group Properties, LLC, and Jim Turner, supervisor for West Brunswick Township.

At 17,000 square feet, the new facility more than triples the size of the current clinic. It is being built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards and will feature state-of-the-art exam rooms, spacious registration and waiting areas, and have additional space for future growth.

The Orwigsburg location is part of Geisinger’s community practice offering, which includes approximately 40 locations across the health system’s 44-county service area.
