Dec. 2, 2010, DANVILLE, Pa. – Geisinger Health System has been named to the Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25 for 2010 by Gartner Inc., a leading information technology research and advisory company. The second annual listing identifies top organizations striving for supply chain excellence and better patient care.
“We’re honored to be recognized among the nation’s top 25 healthcare supply chain organizations,” said Deb Templeton, vice president of Supply Chain Services, Geisinger Health System. “At Geisinger, we hold ourselves to the highest standards to ensure quality outcomes for our patients, and that includes diligent supply chain management.”
Gartner stated that all Top 25 organizations focus on providing value in healthcare, which equates to high-quality patient care at optimal cost. Geisinger Health System is one of two health systems new to this year's Top 25.
“[Geisinger’s] integrated payor/provider status is recognized by its peers for thought leadership in supply chain and value analysis of procurement spend,” said a report issued by Gartner. “It's an example of an early innovator in light of healthcare reform's call for better patient outcomes.”
Geisinger was one of only five healthcare providers recognized on the list. Other health systems listed in Garter’s Top 25 include Intermountain Healthcare based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Mayo Clinic, with headquarters in Rochester, Minn.
