DANVILLE, Pa. – Steven H. Goldberg, M.D., has joined Geisinger Medical Center as an orthopaedic hand surgeon.
“The addition of Dr. Goldberg to the comprehensive orthopaedic team at Geisinger avails our patients one of only two dedicated, fellowship-trained hand surgeons in our area, both of which are employed at Geisinger Health System,” said Michael Suk, M.D., JD, MPH, FACS, chairman, orthopaedic surgery, Geisinger Health System. “It is our goal to bring the most highly specialized care close to home, and Dr. Goldberg joining our team is the latest example of our dedication to providing easily accessible, quality care in this region.”
Prior to joining Geisinger, Dr. Goldberg most recently served as an orthopaedic hand surgeon at Hand Surgery Limited, Milwaukee, Wisc., for the past seven years, treating adult elbow, wrist and hand disorders and pediatric hand and wrist problems.
Dr. Goldberg earned his medical degree in 2000 from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He pursued an orthopaedic residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center, Chicago, which he completed in 2005. Dr. Goldberg then completed a hand and microvascular fellowship in 2006 at Columbia University Medical Center, New York City.
He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and has a subspecialty certificate of added qualifications in hand surgery and microvascular surgery. Dr. Goldberg has authored numerous publications and book chapters, given several national presentations, conducted various lectures, and performed research in nerve repair and the assessment of elbow replacement outcomes.. Dr. Goldberg is currently a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, Milwaukee Orthopaedic Society, Wisconsin Medical Society, Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Beta Kappa.
