DUNMORE, Pa. – Geisinger Health System is set to open a new dermatology office in Dunmore on Monday, October 22. Mark Suchter, M.D., dermatologist and Mohs surgeon, and Paul Long, M.D., director of dermatology, Geisinger Northeast, are welcoming new patients at Geisinger Dermatology–Dunmore, a service of Geisinger–Community Medical Center. The new clinic, located at 1000 Meade St., Dunmore (less than two miles from Interstate 81), will employ six people and make dermatology services more readily available to residents of Lackawanna County and surrounding communities.
Both physicians offer a wide range of services, including treatment for acne, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, rosacea, skin and nail fungal infections, warts, routine skin checks and diagnosis of skin cancer. Patients who have been diagnosed with skin cancer can be treated in the office using Mohs micrographic surgery, a proven procedure in which Dr. Suchter is fellowship trained. Additionally, Dr. Suchter is trained in cosmetic dermatology services, including BOTOX® Cosmetic and other facial injectable treatments as well as laser resurfacing.
“We have seen a growing demand for more options in dermatology care in Lackawanna County as more and more patients from Scranton and beyond travel to our Wilkes-Barre office,” said Dr. Long, who also sees patients in the Geisinger dermatology office at 675 Baltimore Dr., Wilkes-Barre. “By welcoming Dr. Suchter and opening a new practice in Dunmore, we can offer the same exceptional quality care indicative of Geisinger closer to home for more people seeking dermatology, cosmetic and skin cancer treatment.”
Dr. Suchter most recently completed a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery in 2012 at both Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, and Geisinger Medical Center (GMC), Danville. He earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pa., in 2007. Dr. Suchter first completed an internal medicine internship at GMC in 2008. He then completed a residency in dermatology at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Piscataway, N.J., in 2011.
Specializing in general dermatology, Dr. Long has worked for Geisinger for more than 25 years. He earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, in 1976. Dr. Long completed a dermatology residency program at GMC in 1980.
