Geisinger Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine staff offered an Advance Track Educational Symposium on Emergency Management of Athletic Injuries


The Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers Society 2013 Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium was held in Wilkes-Barre at the Woodlands Inn & Resort May 30 – June 1.

Geisinger Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine staff offered an Advance Track Educational Symposium on “Emergency Management of Athletic Injuries”.  Seminar lecture topics included Joint Dislocations & Reduction Techniques; Blunt Trauma / Internal Injury Evaluation & Care; Select Orthopaedic Emergencies & Management; Sideline Neurological Evaluation; and Developing & Implementing Site Specific Emergency Action Plans.  Speakers included Drs. David J. Kolessar, John Lynott, Hans P. Olsen, and Ryan Roza.
 
The symposium was complemented by a spine-boarding workshop session held at the Coal Street Ice Rink, with instruction by Kyle Moore, Head Athletic Trainer of the Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton Penguins Hockey team and assisted by Certified Athletic Trainers Jayme Galdieri and Fred Locey.
