FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MONTOURSVILLE, Pa. – Beginning on Wednesday, March 20, Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) general surgeons Mohsen Shabahang, MD, and Mohanbabu Alaparthi, MD, will take appointments at the Geisinger-Lycoming clinic, 780 Broad Street, Ste. 4, in Montoursville.
The surgeons will visit the Geisinger-Lycoming facility twice a month to start, with opportunity to expand their visits as patient needs warrant. They will provide pre- and post-operative consultations and also perform minor surgical procedures at the clinic.
“We know that surgical patients have many questions concerning their surgery and we are pleased to be able to meet our Lycoming County patients closer to home to assess their specific needs,” said Dr. Shabahang, who is director of general surgery at GMC. “It will also be possible for us to perform some minor surgical procedures on-site too.”
Geisinger’s general surgery team provides a full range of both routine and complex general surgical services. Dr. Shabahang and Dr. Alaparthi represent surgical oncology, general surgery and complex abdominal wall expertise.
Board-certified in surgery, Dr. Shabahang joined GMC in 2010. He earned his medical degree in 1990 from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., completing his residency in general surgery from Georgetown University Medical Center in 2000. He completed a fellowship at the University of Miami (Fla.) Hospital and Clinics in 2002.
