Female gynecological oncologist joins Geisinger Wyoming Valley

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Allison Ball, M.D., MSc, FRCSC, has joined the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center as a gynecological oncologist.

Dr. Ball is a 2006 graduate of the University of Calgary School of Medicine, Alberta. She then completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 2011 before completing a gynecological oncology fellowship in June at the University of Calgary’s Tom Baker Cancer Center, Alberta. Dr. Ball is trained in laparoscopic surgery – surgery involving a small incision and camera-guided instruments – and offers a full range of minimally invasive surgeries to treat gynecologic cancers. Surgically and with chemotherapy, she will treat patients with cervical lesions and cancers of vulvar, ovarian, uterine and cervical origin.
An avid researcher and presenter, Dr. Ball has been published in more than five academic publications and presented numerous times throughout Canada. During her education and training, Dr. Ball received 10 awards and grants, including the Resident of the Year Teaching Award and the Dr. Glenn Gill Award for Citizenship in Residency from Dalhousie University in 2009 and 2011 respectively.

Dr. Ball is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, Society of Gynecologic Oncology of Canada, Society of Canadian Colposcopists, Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada, Alberta Medical Association and Canadian Medical Association. She is also certified in advanced cardiac life support..
