Fellowship-trained otolaryngologist joins Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Michael Joseph, M.D., recently joined Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV) as an otolaryngologist.

Prior to joining Geisinger, Dr. Joseph served with Franklin Memorial Hospital, Farmington, Maine, and has held additional hospital assignments with Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, Richland Memorial Hospital, Olney, Ill., and Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.

Dr. Joseph earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, Boston, in 1976, where he also was a clinical fellow in otolaryngology. He was also an instructor in otolaryngology and an assistant professor in the department of otology and laryngology from 1986 to 1997.

He completed a general surgery residency in 1978 with Harvard Surgical Service at Deaconess Hospital and an otolaryngology residency at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston, in 1981, where he also served as an associate and surgeon until 1998.

Dr. Joseph holds membership in several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and the Association for Research in Otolaryngology. He is also a fellow with the American College of Surgeons and a founding member of the North American Skull Base Society.
