Geisinger Mountain View Care Center is a modern, home-like center providing short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and long-term care. Our grounds are set on over 80 acres of natural woods and face beautiful Montage Mountain.
The 180-bed facility is a one-story residence with both private and semi-private rooms, two interior court yards, gazebos, indoor waterfall and pond, flower gardens, private and common dining areas, chapel, handicap accessible natural trail and a large private parlor for special occasions.
Working with Geisinger - Community Medical Center, architects and medical specialists, we've implemented the Eden Alternative, a truly new concept in short and long term care – one that focuses entirely on each resident's individual needs. The full range of comprehensive medical services focuses on the health and wealth of our residents.
Mountain View takes special pride in being a home for our residents, not an institution. Our staff is dedicated to providing individual care to each resident. We work together with the resident, family members and an attending physician to develop an individual care plan designed to maintain and improve quality of life.
Mountain View provides nursing and medical services to residents at varying levels of care, from those requiring 24-hour skilled nursing care to others needing rehabilitation and assistance with daily living activities. At Mountain View, we aspire to help each resident remain self-sufficient and to feel at home. We provide a wide array of services on site that give our residents a real sense of community. These include such amenities as a beauty salon, dental facilities, podiatry care, social activities and religious services in our large chapel.
Social interaction is a vital part of the life experience. Our activities director plans recreational and social activities for residents based upon abilities and interest. In addition, we offer activities like art therapy, fostering emotional and intellectual expression as well as expanding motor skills.
As a leader in long-term care, Mountain View offers some of the most innovative concepts in achieving overall well-being. These include aroma and touch therapy, pet therapy and plant and flower gardens maintained by residents. All are designed to enhance the care and quality of daily life experience.
Security: We understand how important security is to our residents. We have installed the most advanced security systems to ensure every resident has not only better comfort, but also better security and safety than their own home.
Support: It's important that our residents enjoy care-free living, down to the smallest details like our complete housekeeping and maintenance services.
Short-term rehabilitation care
Since Mountain View opened in 1992 we have accepted short-term referrals for rehabilitation. We offer treatment that has flexible therapy scheduling and is designed according to level of function, needs and abilities of the resident.
What sets Mountain View apart from other rehabilitation programs is our ability to offer either an aggressive, challenging program similar to rehabilitative hospitals or a supportive, slower paced program. All programs are developed specifically for each patient's recovery capacity.
At Mountain View, our entire staff knows the latest technical advances in skilled nursing and rehabilitative services. This experience in acute care, rehabilitation, long-term care, and skilled nursing ensures an easy transition from an acute care setting to home or to a rehabilitation hospital.
Long-term residents can rest assured that all efforts are always made by the Mountain View staff to make it feel like a home for all residents. Here are some of the features the long-term residents can expect when living at Mountain View from the first day they move in.
Privacy: How can a place be like home if a person does not have individual privacy? At Mountain View we take great care to make sure our residents have their own space and the freedom to make phone calls and receive visitors without worrying about anyone invading their privacy.
Flexibility: We know how important your time is. Our residents can visit family and friends, make calls, eat and go for walks on their schedule not ours.
Independence: Personal independence can never be taken for granted. Our staff's refreshing attitude and outlook help our residents maintain their own independent life style.
Visitors: Friends and family are welcome to visit as often and as long as they want. Our open door policy means visits are at your convenience.
We have a large parlor available in case you want your visit to be in a private setting. You are also invited to eat meals together in our dining room.
Dining Services: Under the direction of a registered dietician, our dietary services department prepares appetizing meals, ranging a wide variety of cuisine.
Individual tastes and preferences, as well as nutritional needs are part of our everyday dining. Special diets are also available to meet numerous medical requirements. Healthful snacks and beverages are also between meals. Meals are served in the dining room, with waterfall and indoor pond, to encourage leisurely dining and social interaction. Private dining rooms are available for residents who prefer solitude during meals.
The Magical Court, palliative and hospice care
Magical Court is a specialized 24-bed unit dedicated to the special needs and care of people with Alzheimer's or memory-related illnesses. These people need a safe, secure and very special place to live. That's why Mountain View developed a separate unit dedicated to the special needs of people with Alzheimer's. This unit is designed with special safety furniture, security system and a professional staff who specialize in the care of people with memory impairments.
Mountain View provides hospice care specifically devoted to the special needs of seriously ill residents. Our hospice team provides compassionate care with dignity and love. The physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of our residents and their families are of ultimate importance.
